To all of my wonderful readers,
I’m going to be taking a break from my blog.
As you all know, I love to write. Words are the one place I feel truly free to express who I am and I’ve found it empowering to do that here over the last eighteen months.
By putting my experiences out there, my goal has been to challenge the narrative of a picture-perfect life or a straight line of achievement. I think society celebrates success while making failure invisible. I want to share both so that someday we can live in a world where it’s okay to be authentic.
While I am grateful to be in New Zealand, the pandemic has fundamentally changed my life. My identity as an ambitious expat hustling to make it in New York no longer exists. I’m struggling with an ambiguous sense of loss that has no obvious solution.
I need some time to adjust to this new reality. I’m not sure what the way forward looks like, but I’m fairly certain it’s going to take commitment and focus. For that reason I’ve decided to go on hiatus until I feel able to write again.
I say this with a heavy heart and in the hope that you will be able to understand. Thank you for the support you’ve given me, and I’ll catch you on the other side.
